End Date:             September 1st, 2013         Summary:  The Desktop Support Specialist installs, modifies and makes minor repairs to personal computer (PC) hardware and software systems according to Data Center standards and procedures.  Provides technical assistance and basic instructions to system users.  Duties and Responsibilities:·         Inspects personal computer equipment and prepares microcomputer for delivery per requested configuration.·         Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises when needed.·         Loads specified software packages as required.·         Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.·         Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.·         Provides basic instructions to customers on equipment, software and manuals.·         Provides updates and status of assignments to supervisor, customers and other associates. ·         Effectively and politely communicates with customers and agency personnel.·         Keeps and protects Data Center equipment, software and other information technology resources in good repair.·         Adhere to service level performance objectives for all agencies. ·         Maintains knowledge of new and changing technology. Internship Program Information: Candidate must be enrolled in a college (IT related) or technical school program. A security background investigation will be required.  This Internship will be approximately 12 weeks with a part-time schedule of approximately 10 – 20 hours per week. Normal work hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm. The Intern will be mentored by a Desktop Specialist following an Individual Development Program of tasks and standards. A performance evaluation will be provided to the candidate and faculty. This Internship program is for the benefit the candidate.
