Short North Business Association Public Relations Internship

Develop your public relations, writing, marketing and event planning skills in one of the most exciting and dynamic urban district organizations: The Short North Arts District!

 

The SNBA is a non-profit civic organization composed of business owners, artists, and civic leaders. The mission of the SNBA is to support and promote members and area businesses, to advocate the development and revitalization of this historic neighborhood and to celebrate and encourage the diversity of the urban arts district.

 

The SNBA coordinates the monthly Gallery Hop; produces annual events such as Highball Halloween and the Short North Gala; publishes the Short North Visitor’s Guide; coordinates special projects with local and regional media; maintains an active association with the City of Columbus, Experience Columbus, the Chamber of Commerce, and other civic organizations; and manages the official Short North website, shortnorth.org.

 

More than anything the SNBA exists to coordinate the public and private efforts that attempt to improve the area so that it is an increasingly desirable place to live, work, and play.

 

This Short North Business Association internship offers insight into business administration, public relations, marketing, and event planning, as well as the world of not-for-profits.

 

You will assist with marketing including writing feature articles, blog news updates, social media marketing; business management on shortnorth.org, research and draft press releases and web articles; conduct a variety of office/administrative duties (including inventorying and organizing); handle phone communication, acquire an introduction to public relations (media contacts); assist in deliveries to and direct communication with 250+ SNBA members; and coordinate event setup, monitoring and promotion.

  • Minimum 12-15 hours per week.
  • Mandatory to have a laptop to bring to work.
  • Mandatory availability for Gallery Hop (1st Saturday of every month 4pm - 10pm) + special events.

Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, standard computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, strong maturity and dependability, proficient organizational skills, and ability to follow detailed instructions.
