Photo / Graphic Design Internship at Short North Business Association (SNBA)

Develop your public relations, photography, and visual communication skills in one of the most exciting and dynamic urban district organizations in the country: The Short North Arts District!

About the SNBA

The SNBA works to promote, assist, and enhance the business interests and quality of life for all individuals, groups, and corporations who operate or own a business or property within the district’s boundaries.

The SNBA coordinates the monthly Gallery Hop; produces annual events such as Highball Halloween and the Short North Gala; publishes the Short North Visitor’s Guide; coordinates special projects with local and regional media; maintains an active association with the City of Columbus, Experience Columbus, the Chamber of Commerce, and other civic organizations; and manages the official Short North website, shortnorth.org.

Approximately 250 members currently comprise the SNBA. These members include merchants, restaurants, galleries, theatres, service providers, nonprofit groups, and neighborhood organizations. Through the SNBA these members can strengthen their voices and bring their interests, concerns, and ideas to the attention of other segments of the community and to the local, state, and federal governments.

More than anything the SNBA exists to coordinate the public and private efforts that attempt to improve the area so that it is an increasingly desirable place to live, work, and play.

About the Internship

The Short North Business Association is offering a photography/graphic design internship for Spring 2012.

·       You will be needed to take photos for interviews, product shots for retail items, outdoor District photos including storefronts, and events such as Gallery Hop and the Short North Gala

·       Strong skills in Photoshop are required! Graphic Design skills also a plus.

·       This position is unpaid and will last for a minimum of 10 weeks. Time will be 5-15 hrs per week depending on the week. Interviews will begin the first week of March.

·       You must have good communication skills, as you will be interfacing with over 100 of our business owners.

·       You must have strong organizational skills and own your own digital photography equipment and laptop.

·       You must bring your portfolio with you to the interview along with a copy of your schedule for the quarter.

Interviews for this position will begin the first week of March 2012. The position is scheduled to begin the last week of March (start date is subject to change).
