At City Year’s 21 urban locations across the United States and two international affiliates, over 1,900 energetic, creative and idealistic corps members between the ages of 17-24 years old are making a difference in their communities, one student at a time. Corps members serve full-time in schools for the academic year as tutors, mentors and role models. Through attendance and behavior initiatives as well as one on and one and small group tutoring, corps members are able to help students stay on track to graduate. Position OverviewThis position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with City Year’s Executive Director and Operations Manager supporting a variety of administrative projects such as scheduling, strategic planning and relationship building that will assist with leading and expanding City Year Columbus. Key responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Administrative SupportThe Operations Intern will be expected to support the Executive Director and Office Manager in the development, implementation and tracking of strategies for City Year programs. Duties include, but are not limited to scheduling meetings and appointments for the Executive Director, creating and managing the fundraising and site calendars, compiling and summarizing data and information necessary for City Year Columbus growth process as well as creating and managing timelines of special projects and initiatives. Office AssistanceThe Operations Intern will be expected to assist the Operation Manager in the performance of a wide variety of day -to - day office duties inherent in an idealist environment. Duties include, but are not limited to managing daily activities, produce and maintain schedules and calendars, create and manage the site’s filing system, sending faxes and making copies, as well as answering phones and other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Human Resources Major
- Energetic personality with a creative spirit
- Ability to work a minimum of 15-20 hours a week
- Prior experience and comfort with Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Ability to work as an independent leader and a team member
- Highly organized with a knack for the details
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative
- Ability to multi-tasks and think critically
- Possess flexibility and a "can do" attitude
- Desire to work with a diverse staff
This is a Part-time internship offered for a term of 4 to 6 Months
