At City Year’s 21 urban locations across the United States and two international affiliates, over 1,900 energetic, creative and idealistic corps members between the ages of 17-24 years old are making a difference in their communities, one student at a time. Corps members serve full-time in schools for the academic year as tutors, mentors and role models. Through attendance and behavior initiatives as well as one on and one and small group tutoring, corps members are able to help students stay on track to graduate. Position OverviewThe Recruitment Intern will work closely with the Recruitment Department in recruiting a highly qualified corps of diverse 17 to 24 year olds. The Recruitment Intern will assist with the following activities: community outreach, marketing, customer service and applicant management. Responsibilities
- Research, cultivate and maintain relationships with Columbus area high schools, colleges and community events for presentations and outreach activities
- Develop and maintain systems of documentation for outreach and customer service
- Ensure timely mailing of confirmed corps member informational packets leading up to service
- Assist with contacting applicants
- Assist with monitoring CYCO’s Recruitment Management System
- Assist with CYCO’s customer service program geared towards leads, applicants, and confirmed corps
- Assist with marketing CYCO and its programs to Columbus and surrounding areas
- Other duties as assigned
- Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations Majors
- Energetic personality with a creative spirit
- Ability to work a minimum of 15 -20 hours a week
- Ability to work as an independent leader and a team member
- Possess strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Highly organized with a knack for the details
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative
- Prior experience and comfort with Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Ability to multi-tasks and think critically
- Possess flexibility and a "can do" attitude
- Desire to work with a diverse staff and applicant pool
This is a Part-time internship offered for a term of 4 to 6 Months
