City Year’s mission is to build democracy through citizen service, civic engagement and social entrepreneurship.
City Year’s signature program, the City Year youth corps, unites young adults ages 17 to 24 in a year of full-time rigorous service during which they work in diverse teams to address societal needs, particularly in schools and neighborhoods. These young leaders put their idealism to work as tutors and mentors to school children, reclaiming public spaces, and organizing after-school programs, school vacation camps, and civic engagement programs for elementary, middle school, and high school students. More than 1,200 corps members serve in 18 City Year sites across the United States and one site in Johannesburg, South Africa.
City Year also pursues its mission through public policy outreach, international initiatives, Serve-a-thon fun
Position Overview
The Recruitment Intern (RI) works closely with the Recruitment Manager recruiting a highly qualified corps of diverse 17 to 24 year olds. The RI will assist with the following activities: outreach, marketing, customer service, applicant admissions and systems management.draisers, and by helping businesses engage in community service through our Care Force program.
Responsibilities:
- Research and plan outreach activities at area high schools, colleges and community events.
- Assist with contacting applicants and registered leads.
- Assist with monitoring CYCO’s Recruitment Management System.
- Assist with CYCO’s customer service program geared towards leads, applicants, and confirmed corps.
- Assist with marketing CYCO and its programs to Columbus and surrounding areas.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- College sophomore – graduate student
- Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations Majors
- Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours a week
- Ability to work as an independent leader and a team member
- Posses strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Prior experience and comfort with Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher – preferred
- Ability to multi-tasks and think critically
- Posses flexibility and a "can do" attitude
- Possess a desire to work with a diverse staff and applicant pool
