To learn more about the Chamber’s Member Benefits, visit us online at: http://www.columbus.org/member-center/The Columbus Chamber is currently seeking candidates interested in an internship with our Membership Sales team.  This is an unpaid internship opportunity with the potential to earn incentive based compensation contingent upon the successful closure of sales related activity.  This opportunity will reside at the new Chamber offices located at 150 S. Front Street in downtown Columbus.The selected candidate will be afforded the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of tasks and related projects in support of the Chamber’s Membership Sales team.  Primary responsibilities are tied to supporting the Chamber’s geographically focused team of sales professionals with primary emphasis on North and Northwest Central Ohio, extending to Delaware.  The Intern will have the opportunity to gain familiarity with WebLink, the member management software utilized by the Chamber Sales team.   Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging in telemarketing related activities
  •  Attending and assuming an active role in sales calls
  • Preparing and on occasion, delivering sales presentations
  • Researching, creating, and implementing a standard Sales Prospect Call document

In addition to the above listed responsibilities, the Intern will be afforded extraordinary access to the local business community.  This will be accomplished via direct access to the Chamber’s Director of Sales.  The Intern will accompany the Director on sales calls.  The Intern will be afforded the opportunity to prepare and on occasion, present sales proposals.  Finally, by way of their presence at the Chamber offices, the Intern will be afforded access to all members of the Chamber team for the purposes of learning the inner workings of the Columbus Chamber with boundless opportunities for networking, mentoring and relationship building.The Chamber is seeking someone with a strong mix of hard and soft-skills.  To that end, ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Sales cycle
  • Outgoing Personality and excellent Command Skills
  • Strong Interpersonal and Listening Skills
  • Effective Written & Verbal Communication Skills
  • Experience in preparing professional presentations
  • An Action-Oriented mentality and a strong Drive for Results
  • An ability to Size up People and Understand Others
  • Sense for Customer Focus and Timely Follow-Up

This internship opportunity reports directly to the Director of Sales.   This is an immediate opportunity with a target start date of no later than October 13.  We are seeking candidates that can work a minimum of 15-20 hours each week.  The weekly work schedule will be limited to Monday – Thursday with flexibility and consideration given to candidate availability in determining hours worked each day.  This internship opportunity is scheduled to conclude in the mid-December timeframe, resulting in the potential for an 8-10 week experience.  The internship could be extended for a second 8-10 week period contingent upon intern performance and related need on behalf of the Chamber's Membership Sales team.Sound like the opportunity for you?  Interested in learning more?  Then contact Tim Gaffney, Director of Sales [Tim_Gaffney@columbus.org] for more information or to express interest.
